The cars being prepaired for the restart. The race had to be stoped after a start collision involving Clay Regazzoni of Ferrari, James Hunt of McLaren (no. 11), Niki Lauda (Ferrari) and Jacques Laffite (Ligier). Hunt had a spare car but his team were going to race it and face the consequences later.
